The Copenhagen Wheel – Data Visualization

THE COPENHAGEN WHEEL Smart, responsive and elegant, the Copenhagen Wheel is a new emblem for urban mobility. It transforms ordinary bicycles quickly into hybrid e-bikes that also function as mobile sensing units. The Copenhagen Wheel allows you to capture the energy dissipated while cycling and braking and save it for when you need a bit of a boost. It also maps pollution levels, traffic congestion, and road conditions in real-time. SENSE and SUSTAINABILITY Controlled through your smart phone, the Copenhagen Wheel becomes a natural extension of your everyday life. You can use your phone to unlock and lock your bike, change gears and select how much the motor assists you. As you cycle, the wheels sensing unit is also capturing your effort level and information about your surroundings, including road conditions, carbon monoxide, NOx, noise, ambient temperature and relative humidity. Access this data through your phone or the web and use it to plan healthier bike routes, to achieve your exercise goals or to meet up with friends on the go. You can also share your data with friends, or with your city – anonymously if you wish thereby contributing to a fine-grained database of environmental information from which we can all benefit. ABOUT the PROJECT The Copenhagen Wheel will be unveiled on December 15 at the COP15 United Nations Climate Conference. The project was conceived and developed by the SENSEable City Lab for the Kobenhavns Kommune. The prototype bikes were realized

How about the city pay us for our data ?

Has the wheel been tested in recumbant 3 wheel bikes? It seems possible that even two Copenhagen wheels could be applied for power storage while one handles the steering at the other end of the vehicle, thus making a very useful device for commuting, potentially increasing range and even some cargo carrying capacity such as groceries, books, etc. Any thoughts?

It can also make a bigger contribution to your daily commute and share your data anonymously with the city. When many cyclers donate the information while….

as you cycle sensors inside the wheel analyze the level of carbondioxides, nox, and noise in your surroundings. Also it collecting information on ambient temperature, relative humidity, and road conditions. To your phone or on the web, it can ??? quality of air you’re breathing while cycling or how well you’re performing physically. That’s not all. You can keep this ??? your personal use or share ?? funs getting access to a larger ?? of information.

well i’m learning English. So I’d appreciate it if you could check my dictation(down) or let me know what exactly the speaker says(the whole words 🙂 thanks anyway! MY DICTATION : welcome to the copenhagen wheel, the wheel that turns your ordinary bike into a smart, electric hybrid. but the copenhagen wheel is more than a new type of electric bicycle, it’s also a smart, sensing device that provides realtime feedback about the environmental conditions in your city. Here’s how it works.

This carbon trading scheme does not serve the interests of social justice. Quite the opposite. What is now being contemplated is a multibillion trade in Carbon Derivatives: the banks are slated “to make a killing” on carbon trading, with massive fraud and insider trading in the carbon trading markets. The Multibillion Trade in Carbon Derivatives, Global Research, the architect of Credit Default Swaps at JP Morgan is behind the development of a trading system in “Carbon Derivatives”.
